The Hoard Historical Museum houses 16 exhibit rooms, ranging from period displays to modern exhibits, including the "Niedecker Room" featuring the original writing desk, family photos and handwritten letters from famous local poet Lorine Niedecker (1903-1970). The museum is named after the Hoard family who founded the nationally distributed dairy farm magazine Hoard's Dairyman. The Museum and National Dairy Shrine Visitors' Center are both handicap accessible; the Foster House, Fort Atkinson's first frame home, is not wheelchair accessible.
